Three local firms make Deloitte Fast 500
Three Ottawa firms have made the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the fastest growing technology, media, telecom, life sciences and clean-tech firms in North America.
Local success story DragonWave Inc. – which placed 29th in this year's Deloitte TechFast 50 – was ranked 133rd, recording 786-per-cent growth between 2005 and 2009 with revenues of $19,303,000 in 2005 and $171,104,000 in 2009.
Protus finished in 360th spot with 240-per-cent growth. Its 2005 revenues were around $20,555,000, while 2009 revenues were 69,884,000.
Bridgewater rounded out Ottawa's showing in the 500 ranking, placing 395th. The firm recorded 215-per-cent growth with revenues of $21,155,000 in 2005 and $66,676,000 in 2009.
Winners were selected based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2005 to 2009, and Deloitte said this year's list once again demonstrates the strength of the software market.
"For the 13th consecutive year, there are more software companies on the Technology Fast 500 than any other single sector," said Deloitte, in a release. "Biotechnology companies surged ahead this year, comprising 18 percent of the list, the second most prevalent sector in the 2010 ranking."
