Xiaomi Partners with Graphite Software for MIUI 8 Secure Spaces® Virtual Phone Technology

Xiaomi Partners with Graphite Software for MIUI 8  Secure Spaces® Virtual Phone Technology Enables Innovative New User Experiences

Beijing, China – May 10, 2016 – Xiaomi launched the latest version of the MIUI 8 today, which includes Graphite Software’s Secure Spaces® multi-persona virtualization solution as a key addition to the user experience. Secure Spaces enables a second virtual phone, or avatar, for Xiaomi fans. Using separate PINs, users can login to two completely isolated spaces to enjoy the security and privacy brought by a second virtual phone.

Secure Spaces® can be used for multiple scenarios including privacy, mobile banking security and work use cases. Initially, MIUI 8 will enable a second privacy Space that keeps accounts, apps and data separately encrypted and secure for Xiaomi fans.

“Mobile phones have become an essential part of our daily lives. Xiaomi is always seeking to provide innovative user experiences for Xiaomi fans,” said Feng Hong, Co-founder of Xiaomi. “We partner with Graphite Software to deliver Secure Spaces in MIUI8. Secure Spaces enables a second avatar on the phone, which enhances user security and privacy while supporting many different use cases. Once again MIUI leads the way in the industry.”

“It’s a great pleasure to work closely with Xiaomi to provide our mobile security and privacy technologies to over 200 million Xiaomi customers,” said Alec Main, CEO of Graphite Software. “Graphite focuses on security and privacy innovations for Android devices. Secure Spaces® is also a platform where users can download their own custom virtual phone, including a private space, kid’s space and secure banking space – expanding how users interact with their phones and eliminating the need to carry multiple devices.”

While the focus of the initial offering is on privacy, Xiaomi has integrated Secure Spaces to provide a foundation upon which users will be able to enjoy many different mobile experiences using multiple Spaces on a single device. For example, Spaces can meet enterprise data security requirements enabling users to take their device to work without jeopardizing their personal information.

About Graphite Software’s Secure Spaces

Secure Spaces is an Android virtualization platform that enables multiple virtual devices or “Spaces” to co-exist on a single device – such as a Personal Space, a Kids Space, a Work Space and a Secure Banking Space – with strong isolation between the Spaces. This addresses not only fundamental Android security and privacy issues but it also enables Spaces to provide different user experiences. Like the material graphite, Secure Spaces is strong and lightweight – there is no impact in device performance compared to previous virtualization technologies.
